Sulfree™ OS (Oil Soluble) works in environments where the treated wastes and their odors are oil based such as petrochemical plants or septage hauler who handle F.O.G.s (Fats, Oils, & Greases). Sulfree™ OS prevents grease trap wall buildup due to its ability to liquefy solid fat logs and interferes with the caking formation process.

Waste disposal companies can rest assured the Sulfree™ OS (Oil Soluble) has no surfactant present in the formula.

The action of Sulfree OS on grease trap wastes is at least two-fold:

  1. Sulfree OS is designed and patented as an odor remover, neutralizing virtually all waste sources that produce sulphureous odors;
  2. In testing for use with grease trap waste and hauling, Sulfree™ was found to liquefy grease trap wastes, allowing them to be removed easier;
  3. and, Sulfree success with FOG treatment and associated odor control is not the result of surfactant presence but of additional chemistry and functionality in the Sulfree molecule.

Sulfree behaves as a Eutectic Cloud Point Reducer (A Eutectic mixture is a blend of materials that melts below the melting point of any of the individual compounds). Fats, Oils, and Greases have different melting points and temperature points at which they cloud and then gel before solidifying to the texture of peanut butter. Sulfree depresses the cloud point of the FOGs, thereby acting as a melting point reducer helping them to be more fluid-like to pump and process easier.

The chemistry can be likened to rubber manufacturing or the setting of a permanent wave in a hair salon. Both actions require sulfur cross-linking to encourage the gooey or stringy compounds in processing to harden in the shape required. Sulfree reacts with the offending sulfur molecules and breaks the cross-linking bonds that allow to FOGs to harden, thereby reducing the melting point, and sweetening the smelly oil and grease trap wastes.

Because Sulfree breaks the cross-linking bonds, and is a long lasting compound in treatment, septic haulers that use Sulfree should see less caking in storage tanks, on their equipment, and the municipalities that receive the grease trap waste should see less FOG buildup in water systems.

Sulfree is also helpful for bacteria which break down grease trap waste or other wastes because it frees them from the sulfur bonds allowing them to conduct their natural beneficial activities.  Sulfree actually supports waste decomposition by bacteria, increases the oxygen content of aerobic solutions, assists in methane generation, and reduces the sludge in wastewater systems.

Sulfree™ WS (Water Soluble) demonstrates its strength in water based environments such as Waste Water Treatment Plants WWTP and it can also be vapor fogged over holding ponds and landfills.

Prior to Sulfree™, brought to you by FreshAWL, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Managers relied on expensive, corrosive, unstable, and dangerous to handle chemicals like these:

  • Bleach-Chlorine
  • Ferric Chloride
  • Ferrous Chloride
  • Ferrous Sulfate
  • Hydrogen Per. 50% Oxygen
  • Bioxide (Calcium Nitrate)
  • Nitra-zyme
  • Thio-guard
  • Calcium Hydroxide
  • Potassium Permanganate

In addition to the expense associated with the short life span of these chemicals in the system and special OSHA handling requirements, they can also cause harm to systems they clean and to the environment due to their corrosive nature.

Sulfree™ from FreshAWL is safe, stable, non-corrosive, does not require special handling or training, and is not subject to spikes due to temperature or loading factors.
