Our products are green solutions for hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, and odor control in the waste management processes facing today’s leading industries:

Safety − FreshAWL solutions are GRAS certified, enzyme free, and non-toxic. These solutions are so safe that they don’t require special handling requirements under OSHA or DOT guidelines.

Toxicity — FreshAWL products are synthesized from ingredients which are safe for use in food and food adjutants. Aquatic toxicity is very low; LC-50/96 for juvenile rainbow trout is more that 1,000 ppm at use levels (concentrate levels vary).

Corrosivity FreshAWL solutions are isotonic balanced with the pH of concrete. They are not corrosive to wastewater piping systems and, due to the H2S removal, the corrosion to the system and infrastructure is abated.

BiodegradationFreshAWL is biodegradable under anaerobic conditions with methane, carbon dioxide, and water. This virtually prevents the formation of solids, salts producing EC (Electrical Conductivity), or nitrates.

Application Very simple and does not require plant shutdowns. No special equipment or storage tanks are needed.

FreshAWL solutions can be induced at any point in a system. They can be metered, poured, misted, or fogged anywhere odor and/or FOG control is necessary.

Here's how FreshAWL works as a sulfur elimination technology for oil or water waste treatment systems:

Z-FOG (Oil Soluble for Fats, Oils, and Grease) and WOW-Air (Water Soluble) products work directly on sulfur, the source of foul odors.

FreshAWL products work quickly and specifically to bind up sulfur:

  1. The beneficial bacteria are freed from their sulfur bond, which causes hydrogen sulfide, when the sulfur is bound by the FreshAWL molecule;
  2. This reaction has shown a natural increase of O2 which optimizes the biochemical balance of treatment systems; and
  3. FreshAWL does its job, freeing the bacteria to do theirs.

SFO H2S Removal Test

The increase at 10:23 AM occurred from an influent flow coming from the SFO airport. Results show an 18 ppm reduction in less than 45 minutes.

What is hydrogen sulfide?

Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless, toxic and flammable gas with the characteristic odor of rotten-eggs. Although pungent at first, high concentrations (greater than 500 parts per million) of the gas quickly deaden the sense of smell, so potential victims may be unaware of its presence until it is too late. Hydrogen sulfide can cause a loss of consciousness and death.

Does your drinking water taste or smell funny?

The rotten-egg smell typically occurs from a lack of oxygen in the natural or man-made reservoir storing water before it is treated.

Hydrogen Sulfiide

It is caused by bacterial decomposition of algae and organisms, which, when no oxygen is present, produces hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide emits a rotten-egg smell.
